November Glossybox

'Holiday Romance' November 2013

This is my first Glossybox and I have to say, I am very impressed. The products, even the samples, are generous sizes. None of that tiny packet nonsense that I could get for free.

If you are interested in this subscription box service please feel free to visit their site: glossybox.com

I spent $21 on this subscription box.

Products listed:

Emite Makeup Eye Shadow 'Dams' $27
Jelly Pong Pong Eyeliner/Shadow 'Plum' $17
Nicka K Angled Eye Brush $5
Mastey Leave-In Oil Treatment $25 (for 2 oz)
The Aloe Source Cleansing Polish $30 (for 6.7 oz)

I loved this box! (I've been saying that a lot lately)

For only $21 I received a full size shadow, eye pencil and eye brush.

The Emite eye shadow is the most pigmented and smooth black I've ever seen. I usually don't wear black because of the fall-out that tends to appear. But this one stays in place and hardly fades after wearing it 8+ hours. I may be purchasing more from this company.

I have a 20% code if anyone is interested in Mastey Color Protection products or may be thinking of purchasing from them. Visit here colorprotecting.com and enter the code GB-FRIEND at checkout to receive a discount off your first purchase.

Lip Factory November Box

'It's all about the lips' for November 2013.

The Nov. Box featured all full size lip products! If you are interested in subscribing to the Lip Factory Box please feel free to check out the link: lipfactoryinc.com

I spent a total of $22 for all of these products.

Products Listed:

MODEL Co. 'Luella' (I love this lipstick!) $17
Medusa's Makeup Lipgloss 'Talk Talk' $8
Medusa's Makeup Lipstick 'Undead' $12
Palladio Herbal Lipstick 'Juniper' $6.99
Designer Skin Lip Shimmer 'Bo Berry' $7.30
and a nice little retractable lipbrush $3.88

I loved everything in the box except 'Undead'. I am very light skinned and cannot pull off purple lips. formula for this lipstick is also very streaky and applies uneven.

Swatches: (top to bottom)

Designer Skin Lip Shimmer in 'Bo Berry'
Palladio Herbal Lipstick in 'Juniper'
Medusa's Makeup Lipstick in 'Undead'
Medusa's Makeup Lipgloss in 'Talk Talk'
MODEL Co. Lipstick in 'Luella' (my favorite of the bunch!)

I am absolutely hooked. The company and customer service s amazing! I am very excited for the December box. (:

Julep Diamond Mystery Box

Julep.com released their newest Mystery Box this month!

I purchased the box at $25 and also got a $10 mystery add-on.

I received the Version 1 box, with all of this, for only $35...

So many goodies. Included were 8 polishes, a travel eyelash curler, Double Step Foot Treatment and Friction Stick, the Moisture Mask Trio kit, Pink Grapefruit Body Frosting, an exfoliating scrub cloth and a tasty blue rock candy treat.

I was very satisfied with this purchase. So many amazing things at a fraction of the cost.

Polishes (from left to right):

Helen
Geo
Antonia
Marion
Coco
Reece
Lois
Kristy

Juleps 'Antonia' looks perfect paired with Zoyas 'Gei Gei'. The polish is smooth and the glitter diamonds are surprisingly easy to work with.

Edit: The glitter is very very hard to take off with polish remover.

Julep Maven 'Boho Glam' Starter Box

I recently signed up as a Maven on Julep.com, a monthly beauty box subscription service. For $20 a month I get 2 full size nail polishes as well as a full size beauty product. The referral link I provided takes you to the beauty quiz, which will place you into one of several available style profiles. The profile you choose to be in determines what colors or product types you will receive. You are free to switch profiles each month if you want to try something new.

If you would like to try out the service the code FREEBOX will get you a free starter Maven box to try out. You can cancel the service at any time.

I wrote all of that up to better explain the starter box that I received today (yay!), accompanied by the usual terrible quality photos I've come to expect from my terrible lighting and older iPhone.

Note to self: Get a new camera and stop doing posts at night!

So lets get started!

I have been placed into the category 'Boho Glam' and I have to say that it's pretty spot on.

Included in my starter box (only pay for shipping):

'Michelle' - Deep Dark Navy Blue Cream
'Tatiana' - Sparkly Burnt Orange with Gold Glitter
'Julep Luxe Repair Skin Serum' (full size)

Store add-ons I decided to get (cost $10):

'Isla' - Winter White Shimmer
'Fina' - Frosty Light Blue Shimmer

Original polish price $14 each
Original Luxe Repair $28

That's a lot of product for $10.

(close up of polishes)

Even though I have a very light complexion, I feel that 'Michelle' looked gorgeous on my nails! I've never been able to comfortably pull off a dark color before. I would have no problem at all wearing this as an everyday dark color.

I will be reviewing the other colors after I wear 'Michelle' for a few days to see how it holds up with a base and top coat.

First impression: The polish seemed thick at first but applied beautifully after only one coat! I don't have anything more than one coat on in the photo. Very opaque, easy to apply and no streaking.

Edit: I wore this polish for a week and the only thing I noticed was the color at the tip of the nail starting to wear off. So this particular color is nice and long wearing!

Current Eye Shadow Favorites

I tend to keep my eye makeup light and as natural/neutral as possible. At times I will add a little extra bright peach or cream. Some of my favorite colors that complement my light complexion and green eye color are plums, burnt reds, creams, chocolates and grey mauve's. I try to avoid black, white, blue and greens as they tend to wash me out.

Honeybee Gardens Inc. 'Sunset Strip'
Zuzu Luxe 'Odyssey'
L'Oreal Infallible 'Bronzed Taupe'
Pixi Nude Shade Wardrobe 'Cafe au Lait'

My favorite of the bunch would have to be the Zuzu Luxe Shadow. I have sensitive eyes and this brand, while a little pricey, has a very smooth and creamy consistency. The colors are pigmented and little to no fallout. Very impressive for an organic cosmetic line.

Recently I purchased two Urban Decay palettes on sale! (Huzzah)

The formula and consistency of these shadows are amazing. I will certainly be purchasing more in the future.

Urban Decay The Great and Powerful Oz 'Glinda'
Original $40   Sale $24

Colors I like to use:

'Tornado' - Dark Shimmery Purple
'Aura' - Opalescent Blue and Shimmer Cream duo
'Illusion' - Iridescent Light Peach
'South' - Grey Shimmer Taupe

The palette also comes with a travel size 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in 'Rockstar' and full size Super Saturated High Gloss Lip Color in 'Glinda'. Both products apply very smoothly and the colors are wonderful. I wish I could purchase the High Gloss 'Glinda' outside the palette. The color is just a shade darker than my own lip color and is the perfect lip product for me.

The only color I seemed to have a problem with was the gold section of the 'Oz' duo shadow. It came off flaky and had too many chunky glitter pieces that ended up all over my face. The color was very muted looked more dirty brown than gold. But the Silver color is the most amazing silver glitter shadow I've ever seen! I'm sure a single shadow with that silver would become very popular.

Urban Decay Feminine Palette
Original $36  Sale $16

Colors I like to use:

'Bordello' - Sparkly Chocolate Pinky
'Skimp' - Light Creamy Skin Tone Shimmer
'AC/DC' - Dark Grey/Purple Shimmer
'Lost' - Medium Chocolate Shimmer

All of the shadows in this palette are gorgeous and pigmented! I have used 'Hijack' and 'Gunmetal' as liners to give my eyes a little pop on occasion. It comes with a tiny Lip Junkie Gloss in 'Wallflower' and while slightly sticky, would complement any skin tone.

Favorite Autumn Nails

I have a few old and new nail colors that I personally love for the autumn season.

(Please excuse the poor photo quality.)

From left to right:

O.P.I. 'Happy Anniversary!'
Formula X Sephora 'Thrilling'
Essie 'Merino Cool'
Sparitual 'Jet Setter'
Zoya 'Sarah'

I purchased 'Thrilling' at local Sephora and all the other shades can be found at most Ulta stores.

I have a very light complexion with pink undertones. These colors looked very nice against my pale skin.

- A sheer polish,  'Happy Anniversary!' looks amazing worn on top of another color or alone.

- While 'Sarah' might be a darker color, this cool red glitter polish looks as amazing worn on nails as it does in the bottle. One of my favorite polishes to wear during the fall season and winter holidays! I've received more compliments when wearing this then I can count.

- 'Thrilling' and 'Merino Cool' are both lovely cool cream polishes. 'Merino Cool' is a dark Plum Taupe that I like to wear on my toes as well as fingers. While 'Thrilling' is the perfect cross of nude and light cream (with an ever so slight hint of lavender undertones) that looks very nice on me.

'Jet Setter' is one of my favorite go-to polishes for a healthy looking shimmery peach/pink nails. It is the closest I've personally come to a nude natural looking color for my complexion. A really nice Peaches and Cream type color.

New Old Blog!

Old Blog for new things!

I made this blog almost 2 years ago. During that time I battled with depression and many other personal issues. I've finally decided to get my life back on track and take better care of myself. While I still struggle with Clinical Depression, and may continue to for the rest of my life, I am determined to keep fighting.

So I've decided to start things back up here with a fresh start.

This is just a personal open way for me to interact with others and better myself. I've decided to use this Blog to showcase games, books, makeup, nails, misc. artwork and site layout progress for eldemore.com, a pet adoptable site that I partly own with my sister and her fiance. I am currently developing map and background art as well as species lines and the occasional pet design.

Be well,
Jendalie
